Jane Elizabeth Prideaux (missing in 1851)
« on: Saturday 13 October 12 13:54 BST (UK) »
Jane was born in 1840 probably in North Curry, Somerset child of Thomas (b. Modbury, Devon 1790) and Jane.

I have them all in North Curry, Somerset in 1841 and then only Thomas and Jane in 1851 and their daughter Jane Elizabeth is missing.  As far as I know Jane Elizabeth was their only child.

In 1851, the parents are working at Walton Lodge Asylum in Liverpool (HO107 2191 57 35) but Jane Elizabeth is not with them and I can't find her anywhere else.

She did live as she marries in Liverpool in 1861.

If anyone can find Jane Elizabeth I would be grateful as its the only 'bit' I'm missing for her now.

Thanks
Ruth

I wonder whether she is the 10 yr old boarder enumerated as something akin to Jane Redeause in West Derby, Lancs in 1851, with an Isgell family.

HO107/2190/492/32.

The name looks to me as though it may be an attempt at Rideaux, so tantalisingly close to Prideaux!
Ayr: Barnes, Wylie
Caithness: MacGregor
Essex: Eldred (Pebmarsh)
Gloucs: Timbrell (Winchcomb)
Hants: Stares (Wickham)
Lincs: Maw, Jackson (Epworth, Belton)

Surrey: Gosling (Richmond)
Wilts: Matthews, Tarrant (Calne, Preshute)
Worcs: Milward (Redditch)
Yorks: Beaumont, Crook, Moore, Styring (Huddersfield); Middleton (Church Fenton); Exley, Gelder (High Hoyland); Barnes, Birchinall (Sheffield); Kenyon, Wood (Cumberworth/Denby Dale)

Thank you avm  :)

that looks very suspicously like her - even trying to mess around with the spelling of Prideaux couldn't have produced 'Redeause' but it does in reality look like Rideaux.  I think the Isgells are Asgills as well and with her living in Walton Road it can't be too far from the Lodge.

I'm not surprised she is off lodging somewhere if Mum and Dad didn't want her brought up in a Asylum

Agreed :)

And given the occupations it looks as though it was a family run boarding school, albeit on a very small scale, so at least she was getting an education.
