Thankyou Roger, looked at these, but on his youngest daughters birth cert has middle name down as Humphrey, on 1901 census listed as just Edward Jones, but a (H) appears in 1911.

There is an Edward.Humphrey Jones with Edward & Ann as his parents, I think the Ref  no was rg 12, 4586, 1891 census. but Edward Snr on that record was quite a bit old than Ann.

Well thinking caps on again- the solution must be out there.
We probably need to think outside the box on this issue,Age and place deviations occur quite frequently throughout the census data- and it is frustrating, and rather odd when one knows for certain it is the same person.
We know that Sheffield was listed as Edward  Jones place of birth on the 1901/1911 census,it might be worth posting to clarify things on the forum,as to when - Newtown  cropped up as Edward Jones birthplace.
Kindest regards Brian. ;)

Brian,

I hope one day I will find the answer. I have been looking at a map my Aunt once gave me, it has several place on it that are highlighted, Newtown, Machynlleth, Tregynon, Llanwnog, Caersws, Berriew to name a few, I know Edward was Living in Tregynon at the time of his marriage,  LLanwnog is where his wife came from. Caersws I think one of his Daughters were born there

Best Regards

Zoe

Don't give up.
I am going to re visit the suggested Sheffield connection, although we discounted a link some time ago it's still worth another search.
Kindest regards Brian. ;)
