The "Genghis Kahn" 1853 in Melbourne
« on: Monday 15 October 12 19:41 BST (UK) »
I would love to find out if someone has a scanned version of Joseph Tarry's book describing the 1853 voyage of the immigrant ship Genghis Khan from Liverpool to Melbourne. See below:

Thank you. Yes I had discovered this. But as I'm in France I was hoping to find a digital or online copy if possible.

No, the issue is most likely that that particular book was printed in 1967 and thus that edition is subject to copyright  :)  (70 years post the Editor's/Author's death I think)

Thinking cap needs me to pull it down a tad harder here....

Cheers, JM

But here's another little mystery. William and Sarah's first child born in Australia was Mary Ann, who was to marry John Edwin Ackerly in 1881. She was born in 1857 in Victoria but I don't know where?? The next child, William, was born in Mansfield Victoria in 1859.

Also as assisted immigrants the Grisdales would have had to submit other documents etc as I mentioned in the article. Are these kept in the Melbourne Immigration Library?

Stephen

PS If anyone wants help with UK or French matters please just ask.

The Mariage details say
Mary Ann GRISDALE  born  Mansfield  married  John Edwin ACKERLY  born ENgland married 1881  reg no 3743

I cannot  find a reg birth  for Mary Ann  Grisdale though.

Stephen  you  might be  better off doing a post/thread asking  if  anyone can look at  the Assisted Immigrants records in  Melbourne to see what details may be on  the  record  there.

Do  you  have the details  for  the  other children  born  to William and Sarah?
