Owen Family Llanberis, Caernarvonshire

Hi there. Can anyone assist in looking up any parish records of Llanberis for William Owen (b. 1829) Llanberis who married Jane (b. 1835) surname may be Williams, but uncertain. I do have Owen William Owen, b. 1858 Llanberis, whose parents were the above William and Jane. The patronymic system is very difficult to work out parents from children at times.

Any help would be great.

Family search gives two versions, very similar to each other, strangely enough.

Christening on 25/01/1829 of a William Owen , son of William Owen and Mary.

Christening on 30/08/1829 of a William Owen, son of William Owen and Mary.

Thank you for your reply. I will look at Family Search as I haven't found any records at all from Llanberis there. I will keep searching and hopefully find what Mary's surname is and Jane's surname in the later marriage.

I think you'll find 'your' William Owen if you look at the census records (1851 + 1861 I think), but again, there are two . I think , with your information, you'll be able to work out which one is relevant.  Come back to me if you don't have access.

Thank you very much. Yes, I have the correct people in the census. It appears the IGI doesn't yet have any marriage records for Llanberis or would it be more likely that the people would marry in a larger town nearby?

The most likely reason is that they weren't recorded by IGI for some reason.( Some parishes refused permission). If you do breakthrough to yet another generation or two, the parish records between 1712 and 1790 for Llanberis are actually on a Welsh website.
           Some marriages took place in chapels, rather than churches.

Thank you again. I know that William Owen who married Mary??? was born about 1794 Llanberis. Are there any sites that have marriages for Llanberis?  The FreeBMD site has post 1837 but because the same surnames were so common amongst everyone it's impossible to tell if I have the correct person or not unless I ordered certificates as I have no way to identify parents names on them at all.

I may have to have some research undertaken at the Caernarvonshire archives. Thanks again.

the William baptized 25th January was son of William  a farmer  and Mary,,there abode was Haffotty Newydd.

Many thanks. That is the correct person. You wouldn't have any access to marriage records in Llanberis between 1820 and 1823 and 1855 and 1858? I have no surnames for the wives, just the husbands.

Would you per chance have an ability to check out a William Owen, born in 1794 Llanberis?
