Time to play hunt the missing child then. lol

I've got 4 possibles already born between 1891 and 1893.  Unfortunately they all died between 1891 and 1894.

Guess I'm going to have to get some birth certificates at some point when the pennies aren't going towards Christmas.

Thank you for helping
xx

Have you found if/where Benjamin, Annie, Agnes, Rhoda and John were baptised?  If you can find them, then you're more likely to find the missing child with the same parents' details.

And save yourself buying certs!

How about posting a request for the baptisms on the Northants Board? ( http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,27.0.html ).  I suggest you add a link to this thread in your post there ( http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,620575.new.html#new ).

Oh my Sandy!!

That's amazing, thank you.

Where on earth do you find that sort of information?

Spookily I work in the road next to Billing Road Cemetery (well I'm off at the moment waiting for some surgery) but when I go back I guess I'm going to have a couple of lunches walking round the cemetery looking for Rellies.

Thank you to both of you for your help.

Hi Jo.

You are welcome.

You can view the records at the Northants Record Office.

There are no graves in the area for your ancestors as there are
only 400+ left in the whole Cemetery due to bombing in the War.  :(

That's a shame, but they probably wouldn't have had headstones anyway I suppose.

I had a chance meeting with 2 elderly gentleman on 11th November about 2 years ago, who were stood outside my office reminiscing about how the area had looked during the second world war, and though they were young boys they could clearly remember the bomb (s) in the cemetery and how it shook their house on Billing Road between Upper and Lower Thrift Street.

I've been doing research in to my tree for several years now on and off but I haven't ventured in to a Record Office yet.  I feel quite daunted about the amount of information I could find and the hours becoming days of being there, not sure the boyfriend would appreciate being deserted for long periods of time so I can look at old books, I may never want to leave.

Hi Jo

Good find, Sandy.

Jo, as Sandy suggests, you might want to visit Northamptonshire Records Office to check out the baptisms of Benjamin and his siblings, especially Elizabeth Ann, just to confirm that she is the missing one.  Perhaps Sandy can advise which church was nearest to Lower Harding Street, it would be a starting point for finding them, and saves on buying certificates  :)

I visited NRO a couple of years ago looking at records from Preston Deanery, and the staff were very helpful.  It's at Wootton Hall Park:  here's a link:

http://www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/en/councilservices/Community/archives/Pages/How-to-find-us.aspx

You do need a CARN ticket (see the "Visiting the Record Office" page), but you can get it on the day you visit; just bring the right forms of ID.  And once you've got a CARN ticket you can visit other county archives without having to go through the paperwork again.
