Hi.
Yes, John Hill. I believe he was born in the Worthen area in about 1831.
Also the  burials of Thomas Hill in 1853. Can't find his burial anywhere, but he died in Pennerley. Also burials of another John Hill born in 1774 and his Wife Elizabeth born in 1773 again in the Worthen area. Sorry, no idea at all when they died.
 Thank you  Jan.

Hi,

Shropshiire Archives has copies of the Worthen Parish Registers:
at the last update there were General Registers from 1558, Baptisms up to 1931 and Burials to 1964.

Find them here http://www.shropshire.gov.uk/archives.nsf and follow the links to Research Guides and then to Research guide to family history.

Hi Allan,

.wonder if I can now research my Roberts in Welshpool...   cheers   allan

... except that Welshpool was in Montgomeryshire and their records are at the Powis archives in Llandrindod Wells.

(Useful for families like mine who couldn't decide which side of the border they wanted to live ) :-\

Find them here:

Thanks Maurice,
Looks like a trip to the Archives is on the agenda next time I can get back to Shropshire.
Thanks for replying.  Jan.

The Parish Registers held at National Library of Wales have been digitized and are now searchable via FindMyPast.

This includes Welshpool

There is a list of the parishes in each county covered & dates on the FindMyPast site:

http://www.findmypast.co.uk/content/welsh-collection/parish-registers

I haven't tried searching it yet so cannot say how good the indexing is.

Some of mine were in Shropshire & previously in adjacent parishes over the border in Montgomeryshire requiring visits to Shrewsbury, Hereford & Aberystwyth to view the relevant records.

The only place you can get the registers after 1812 is Shropshire Archives and LDS centres as far as I know.

N.B. that Shrop. Archives are digitising their records and they should be put online at some point :)
