CROSBIE from Thornhill

Thomas CROSBIE was born 15 Oct 1811 at Thornhill, the son of William CROSBIE and Janet McMORRINE.

About 1834 he married an Isabella ?? They had a son William in 1836. There was also a daughter Janet.

The family left for New Zealand in 1840. Isabella died on board ship on the way on 8 Feb 1841, and Janet the daughter also on board ship on 4 Mar 1841.

Thomas married again in NZ in 1842 to Jane FRASER, who had arrived on the Blenheim in Dec 1840 from Fort Augustus.

Trying to find anything about Thomas before they came to NZ, what was Isabella's maiden name, dates for children etc.

do you know any names of  thomas's siblings

i have come across a possible but this thomas was born 1805 12th may
dumfrieshire,
parents james crosbie born 1775 & janet little born 1779

mary,1801,james 1803,*thomas 1805*, john 1807,alexander 1810,william 1812,david 1815,

thomas 2nd marriage to jane fraser produced 6 sons 2 daughter and what i found intersting was that his first daughter he named isabella.

possible 1st wife was isabella marr  but theses are ONLY POSSIBLES needs further looking at

Had seen the Isabella MARR but was too late I think from memory, ie kids born after 1840 when they had left for NZ.

There is also an Elizabeth born 19 Oct 1804

I'm sorry can't seem to find any thing definite Isabella &thomas  or Janet

can see thomas siblings in some of the census's but i expect you have all that

I have Crosbies in and around the Dumfries area who also emigrated to New Zealand.    I dont see an obvious connection from the information I have but its possible i suppose.

I have a Thomas Crosbie, b. 17 Jan. 1840 Cottack Dunscore.  Father James, b. 1795, Mother Margaret Hunter

Thomas arrived in N. Zealand 1863 aboard the 'Green Jacket' his wife was Agnes Murray who arrived on board the 'Louisa"

Thomas had a brother William b. abt. 1842, who travelled with him.  Williams wife was Agnes Cochrane.
