Don't hang your hat on that family as you need to check  a lot of things first...You need to look for marriages and beyond that...
Being that the wife and a few children were in the Canada 1861 you'd have to look at the 2 dates of the census to see if they could be on two at once? then prove they were no longer in Scotland, ie next census......Myself, I think you'll have a wee bit of a problem just for the fact that there are no Anns listed in that family?

That's exactly where I'm having problems, making the connection with Ann and her family..it's like I'm missing a generation.. ..just wish there was an answer for it to make sense...like where and how and who..sounds simple enough..lol

Cindy Paquet, I just joined rootschat so that I can message you.  I am a descendant of Emma Smith (daughter of Reuben Smith and Theotiste Paulin).  As I write this it is April 25, 2020.  I know this thread has gone stale but I'm hoping you will see this.

I tried to send you a private message but it appears I cannot - probably because my account is so new.   I've been researching the Edgar family and the Smith family.  I would love to be able to share what I've found with you.  I have it all in a PDF document that I can share with you.
