Patrick Corby of Ratheanveen, Tipperary
« on: Saturday 27 October 12 14:41 BST (UK) »
Patrick Corb(o)y: My in-law ancestors were in Rathneaveen 1901-11 and then moved to Longford East (1 mile North East of Oola)where they bought a large house, after Patrick Snr. died (1908). I visited both places recently; Longford was very successful but Rathneaveen was not - it appears that I photographed the wrong place (looking at the details of the censuses); I wonder if anyone has any further information about the Corb(o)ys from this townland - a photo would be fantastic; I also need the christening record for Patrick snr. There were two related families at Rathneaveen - Patrick's moved to Longford but the others remained; it has been suggested that there was a family rift at the time. Patrick jnr. did not remain in farming for long.
