Birth or baptism of John Charles MILES, Bath c. 1828-31
« on: Sunday 29 May 05 23:51 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone,
My first posting on this list, and I'm afraid the details I have on the man I am looking for are rather thin, I'm afraid.
However, I seek a John Charles MILES, whose only sightings so far are on the 1861 Census for Birmingham where he is aged 29, a painter and glazier, born in Somerset; and in the 1871 Census for Eastbourne he is aged 43, from Bath in Somerset.  By the 1881 Census he has died.
Is there any sign of a birth or baptism for this individual in the Bath area between about 1828 and 1831, or evidence of a MILES family there...?
Very best wishes,
Keith

Bryan,
Thanks so much for taking time over my John Charles Miles.  I have now discovered his marriage to an Elizabeth Upton in the Birmingham area in 1855, but have to take it on trust that "Bath, Somerset" in the Census gives some kind of pointer to his birthplace.
Perhaps I need to widen the net now for the whole of Somerset...
Very best wishes,
Keith
