There's a Mary Day age 57 buried at Baldock on 21 Feb 1850, which would just about make her the eldest daughter of William and Alice. But as always with your lot, unbaptised!

I'm dim! She was probably Mary Giddings baptised on the same day her mother was married, in Jan 1793.

We should be called 'Dim' and 'Dimmer'........of course, Mary Giddings. She must have changed her name upon the marriage of Wm Hayes to Alice as, as you say, she would have been Wm's daughter.

No, the two Day girls (subject to confirmation) were the daughters of Mary Giddings or Hayes, who was the sister of Ann (Hayes) Larkins. So the two executors of Ann Larkins' will were the husbands of her nieces. The Day sisters would have been the granddaughters of Alice Giddings/Hayes

I didn't say that Mary Giddings was William Hayes' daughter, although I think she was!

Okay, 'allegedly' the daughter of Wm Hayes.

I think James Larkins was a publican before his death so perhaps the money came from the sale of the premises?

Is it worth seeking a copy of the will to clarify everything?

I think it's always worth seeking a copy of a will - more often than not the ones I've got  have told me something I didn't know and/or confirmed what I thought might be the case :D
