I have another question, maybe someone would know... my father has the family seal, and a watch, we were told were from the 1700's....the family seal is a purple thistle. Anyone know anything about this seal? It is an awesome cut purple stone (like amethyst, could be Blue John as the family owned the Blue John mine at some point in history).

So, still working backwards... I have a signed piece of paper by Samuel Peake, dated 1757...one of my ancestors, looking for details still
