Hi there I'm looking for information on a John dark born snowshill 1788,
This is as far as I've got back ,now I'm stuck ,any help with this would be most welcome

I note that John is with his family in Snowshill in 1851 but not 1861. There is a possible death index in Winchcomb in 1853 and a baptism on family search in CHELTENHAM on 2 June 1787, mother Jane but without further information this is the best I can come up with.

In the 1841 census Snowshill, John wife Mary,2 eldest sons Stephen+ Wlm were not born in county.

I checked the above parish records for the baptism of a John DARK from 1785-1793 and there is NO record of his baptism.

Regardless of what is stated on the 1851 Census, clearly John Dark was NOT born in Snowshill - there is no baptism for him there nor indeed any Dark's around that time-frame.

1841 census does in fact say 'Y' to born in county so would seem he was born in Gloucestershire, but just not in Snowshill!

John Dark is on the Snowshill Census in 1861, his estimated year of birth is 1855, parents Stephen and Esther Dark, married Fanny Louisa Mapp, they lived in Hanley Child, Tenbury Wells I believe, if it is the right person then he died in 1919 not long before his daughter Dora Dark was born, I understand he was hit by a bus and killed.  Dora Dark was my Nan.
