Fry, devon 1851 lookup

looking for William Fry, born 1835, christened stoke dameral 1835, mother eliza, father william fry, marine.
I have him from 1861-1901  living in wandsworth, occup shoemaker and later lamplighter.
Don't know where he was in 1851, have tried to find him in the 1841( in devon only) but no luck so far.
Don't know when he came to wandsworth, but he married caroline humphries there in 1860.
I would be most grateful for any help on this one.

Hi Runey,

This one sort of fits your criteria, but I don't think it can be him.  I would have expected William senior to have said if he was a retired marine.

There does not seem to be another William Fry born in the right place in Devon in 1851.

Thanks Nell,
I should have added that william frys marriage cert (1860 wandsworth)  gives his fathers occup. as soldier.  Doesn't say deceased or retired  although it would be a long service if he was still a soldier.
I have applied for the service history of will fry senior in the hope of shedding some more light on this one

Hi Nell,
After some trawling I found William Fry senior in the 61 census on HMS Diadem, still a marine aged 45 9/12 born Leeds Yorkshire, looked for his wife and poss children and found Eliza & co in Barrack St Stonehouse. As you will see the children have been born all over and wonder if you have them with or without wm jnr in 1851, if not, could you suggest where I should post a message.

I have followed George through to 1901, and have found most of the birth records on freebmd,
I have looked at devon and norfolk  in 1841 but no sign.
