As you know who Alice married, I would suggest that you get thier marriage certificate if you dont already have it.   It will tell you information about her and her fathers name and occupation, then you can be sure you have the right one.

Cook is a very common surname.

There are 2 on the birth index,s   she could be either, thats why you need her age on the marriage cert and fathers name.

Alice Cook June q 1875 3b - 506 Cambridge

Alice Cook March q. 1880  3b -527 Cambridge..

Just had a look on a census which is free for a couple more days on another site. There is an Alice Emery who was born in 1875 in March Cambridgeshire, who is in North Witchford, the census says she is an inmate, there are also what appears to be three of her children with her Sarah, Rose and Florence.
Dont know if it is the correct Alice but this one had 5 children.
Bramwell -  Derbyshire and Bolton
Pottinger -  Gloucestershire, Berkshire
James- Gloucestershire
Rawley, Wheeler - Middlesex
Nicholls, Nichols -  Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire
Lee, Porter - Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire
Bowers, Coxall, Coe, Dawkins, Hawkins, Horspoole, Rule - Cambridgeshire
Stoughton - Bedfordshire
Stewart - Stirlingshire,  Glasgow and Edingburgh
Tulloch - Orkney Islands
Liddell - Stirlingshire, Lanarkshire
Tulloch, Wilson, Stevenson, Baxter, Muir, Boag - Scotland

Hi on this occasion I do not think the Alice Emery b March, in the Institution is the one who married Thomas Edward, I think she is the Alice Yardy who married a David Emery in March qtr 1896 N. Witchford 3b 700, she can be found with her parents in North Witchford, as an Emery on RG13/1551/143/16

Hi Eric,
Could I just ask when/where you believe Emmeline Lory Cook was born, as the only one I could locate was an Emmeline Lory Cook June 1878 Leyburn 9d 694a

Hi Keyboard86,

You are correct it isnt the right Alice Emery.

I have done some more looking about and have found on another thread that Thomas Edward Emery married Emmeline Lory Cook in Paris France, there is some information about Thomas and Emmelines children on that thread.
It looks as though Thomas worked for the British Consular as children from both marriages where born in either france or italy, Emmeline (first wife died in Italy).
So we are looking for an Alice Cook that may have worked in italy.

Eric, did Alice Cook have a middle name?
The reason I ask is the BMD records show that there were 17 Alice Cook's born between 1870 and 1890 in Cambridgeshire, if she is just Alice Cook then we can narrow it down to 6.
Alice Cook b 1876 Risbridge
Alice Cook b March quarter 1878 Risbridge
Alice Cook b December quarter 1878 Risbridge
Alice Cook b 1880 Cambridge
Alice Cook b 1886 Wisbech
Alice Cook b 1889 Risbridge
Bramwell -  Derbyshire and Bolton
Pottinger -  Gloucestershire, Berkshire
James- Gloucestershire
Rawley, Wheeler - Middlesex
Nicholls, Nichols -  Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire
Lee, Porter - Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire
Bowers, Coxall, Coe, Dawkins, Hawkins, Horspoole, Rule - Cambridgeshire
Stoughton - Bedfordshire
Stewart - Stirlingshire,  Glasgow and Edingburgh
Tulloch - Orkney Islands
Liddell - Stirlingshire, Lanarkshire
Tulloch, Wilson, Stevenson, Baxter, Muir, Boag - Scotland

I could only find a baptism relating to one of the girls you found NettieS but it looks very promising:

All Saints Church, Newmarket
Baptism 21 February 1886
Born 12 May 1885
Alice Amy COOK daughter of George Thomas and Lory of Narcisse Villa
Jockey

It appears that Emmeline Lory Cook (born Yorks) and Alice Amy Cook were sisters.

The family are living at Narcissus Villa, Lower Station Road, Wood Ditton, Newmarket in 1891.
