*Lookups required* Tempo COI/Presbyterian

Marriage Between William Bussell & Eliza Johnstone 21 Sep 1852 at Tempo COI/Presbyterian.

I have the details from Family Search etc:

Is anyone able to view the original registers or microfilm?

Specifically looking for ages, marital status of both parties, Townlands & parents. I Know his father was Cromlin (Crumlin from Garraroosky, Galloon).

I suspect this may have been a second marriage of Williams. He being first married in the Galloon area, specifically Sallaghy Church between 1842 & 1845 (records lost in the Dublin fire in 1922).

Also trying to confirm Elisa Johnstones links, townland, fathers occupation etc: Her father is George Johnstone

Any sound info would help.

Thanks
Rusty

Rustyscupp,

If the marriage was at Tempo COI, then the marriage registers for 1845 onwards are still in local custody (no copy held at PRONI). However Tempo Presbyterian marriages have been copied. I’ll look them up next time I am in PRONI, and will get a copy if it was there.

Otherwise your best bet is probably to order a copy of the cert. The Church of Ireland now has charges for inspecting the original registers - £12 an hour - so you might find buying a copy the easiest and cheapest solution (if it’s not in the Presbyterian records).

Thank you Elwyn,

I am pretty sure it is the Presbyterian records I am after, "Emerald Ancestors" lists them as such. Not sure how much detail they will have though.

No hurry, as and when you find the time.

Rustyscupp,

I checked the Tempo Presbyterian records today at PRONI (MIC1P/76) but the Bussell/Johnstone marriage isn’t listed there for 1852. There were only 4 marriages at that church that year, so not hard to check. For your other option, Tempo COI, PRONI only has their marriage records up to 1845. The records from that date forward are still in local custody. You might find it easier just to order up a copy of the cert (Enniskillen 1852 Vol 5, page 579) and ascertain the church that way.

Kingskerswell,

Rusty's first post was for details of the 1852 marriage. (Though I admit I did overlook his second post for details of the later marriage!).
