I suspect the brothers were born in the Bodmin area, but not Bodmin itself. There's a tendency to give the name of the nearest place people may have heard of, if you're some distance from home. I do it myself, people won't have heard of the village I grew up in, but there's a chance they have a vague idea of where Swansea is.

There's a Henry born Braddock of the right age with parents Charles and Mary Emma. This Charles is W(illia)m Charles on the 1871 census and the couple have a son, also, William Charles born Lanivet at the right time. RG10/2247 folio 46 pg 77. William Charles born Lanivet in 1865 shows up as Charles in 1881.   ::)

thanks to a Cornish ggrandfather, I've spent time checking resources for the area and there are plenty. Love to take you up on the offer, but it's a rather long round trip from the central belt of Scotland!

 :-[ Perhaps an international?

This has to be the right family with all the right names and dates, especially so with the twins Edwin and Joseph, which ties in nicely with Charles 3 sons Charles Henry, Edwin and Joseph.

   Thanks again

I checked at the North Devon RO for you today - they hold transcripts of some local PRs. Under Braunton baptisms I found the following:

8 Sep 1872  Anne d of John & Mary Williams, labourer

Further children of this couple:

Lydia 21 May 1865
Thomas 16 Sep 1866
Frederick William 22 Dec 1867
Henrietta 4 Sep 1870.

Unfortunately the transcripts for marriages only goes up to 1837, but FreeBMD has a John Williams marrying Mary Rooke in the June quarter 1863 in Barnstaple district ( ref 5b 845). It might be worth following up. If you think this might be the correct family, I could check the microfiche marriage entry for you

Thank you so much Steve.  I did manage to trace back to the marriage of  John and Mary, but didn't have the baptism of Annie.
My biggest moment of triumph was finding the marriage of Annie and William Charles in Redruth  Cornwall 1887. ;D
For the moment I'm going to leave Annie and continue with Charles and his siblings.

  Thanks again

Hi everyone, I have now researched the tip Steve gave me, unfortunately it's not "my" Annie Williams.
Her great grandson contacted me through Ancestry and his known facts do not match mine.( he has the original birth, marriage and death certificates).

I've tried giving her different birth dates, Barnstaple instead of Braunton, Ann instead of Annie but other than the other "annie' no record at all.

What am I doing wrong?    :-[

   Regards

have you followed up on the marriage that you found? Though Redruth would be an odd registration idstrict for someone further east in Cornwall marrying someone from Devon.
