Wow! that's fabulous. Thanks a million.  Coming from Pontypridd it all makes sense. Penrhiwceiber is not far from the family home in Mountain Ash and St Catherines is the main church for Pontypridd. I know the library keeps the church records so I shall be visiting tomorrow. Why didn't Ancestry pick this up???
I talked to Joseph William Rowe surviving son this morning. His answer to the Burryport "connection' was Charles and Edwin worked in the coal mine there before joining up for WW1. He hasn't any recollection of his grandmother and said his father never mentioned her and he never knew about Charles. Makes you wonder.
  Anyway thanks again.

there isn't any one site that has all the info, so using a mixture of sources can get you further. Familysearch has reasonably good Glamorgan parish records, have a look at this link

https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1&region=UNITED_KINGDOM_IRELAND

The ones which show that they have images lead you to the images on FindMyPast. It it's Pontypridd library you're visiiting, looks like they have Findmypast access as well as much else.

Think you'll need a birth cert for one of the children to be sure of Annie's maiden name. Funny thing is, there isn't a Rowe birth registration to match the baptism for Charles Henry, so he may be registered under Annie's maiden name.

Annie has been revealed :)

Her maiden name is Annie Williams. The registrar was fabulous yesterday, she was so intriged by the story that she did a research herself, but unfortunately could only find the same results as us all. No marriage and no trace of Charles and Henry Rowe. Charles was named as the father for Edwin.

Thought that was very kind of her.

think the registrar would only have the marriages registered Pontypridd, so they may have married elsewhere or with different names. There is this possible marriage

Annie Williams sept qtr 1901 Pontypridd vol 11a pg 977 with Edwin Rowe on the same page

Now, I've managed to match the other couple on the page, so they did marry each other. Using the free index on the 1911, there isn't an Edwin Rowe in the area married to an Annie. It's a possibility so maybe worth another call to the helpful registrar?

I have tried using all the different childrens  names for Charles Rowe Snr. to no avail.

Charles Rowe, Edwin Charles, Charles Edwin, William Charles and so on.

The first son is Charles Henry, Charles from her father, Henry brother.
Edwin John,  Edwin? John her fathers name.
Joseph William,  Joseph? William perhaps Charles second name or Charles Father.

None of the above give me a Charles Rowe born 1867, 66 or68 with a brother Henry born 1872,73, or74. in bodmin.

Thinking I'll leave this branch of the family for another day.  Coincidence on the marriage though thanks. :)
