AnnieGee School mistress

Can anyone  give me advice on where to find school appointments in late 1880's and early 1890's. My Great grandmother Annie Gee,was an assistant school mistress on the 1891 census before her marriage to William James Thornton in 1892. Her address in 1891 census is 13 Carlton Rd.
My Grandfather William John Cecil Thornton born 1894 would have also attended school, his address in 1901 was Pees Hill Rd.(or perhaps Lees Hill Rd). was just wondering does anyone know if I could get school records.

The honest answer is I don't know, but if it were me I would contact the Nottingham Archive - as I know a lot of school records end up in their safe keeping - and they are a very helpful crowd!

If the rules were the same in the 1890s as they were in the 1930s, she would have lost her job on marriage: only unmarried women were allowed to be teachers. So searching after the marriage may bring no news.

But do take the advice to contact the archives - you may discover that they find all sorts of interesting material for you. Where school log books have survived, they are fascinating - and can be photographed or scanned for you......
