Just listing these deaths that may be relevant.

WATTERS
William on 20 Mar 1858 age 10 months.  Residence: Willunga. Death Place Willunga.  No relative recorded.
William on 31 Mar 1872 age 72 years.  Residence: Willunga.  Death Place Willunga. No relative recorded.
Mary on 7 Jun 1904 age 75 years. Residence:  McLaren Vale.  Death Place McLaren Vale.  Relative:  William Watters (DH)
Joanna on 7 Mar 1856 age 6 weeks. Residence: Willunga.  Death Place not recorded. Relative William Watters (PR) Dist. Wil Book 4 Page 138 Symbol FM.
Sally on 18 Apr 1856 age 3 months. Residence and death place not recorded. Relative:  William Watters (PR) Dist. Wil Book 4 Page 139 Symbol FM.

I am not familiar with the Symbols FM and PR - hopefully someone will have the details.

This William Watters is the father of my William Watters' b 1822 Crowan Cornwall and died Inglewood Victoria in 1879.
(Not very imaginative children naming)

Theresa VALLENTINE age 21, married Walter Ralph Sampson age 25, on 9 Sep 1914 at the residence of Rev. LB Fletcher, Alberton. 
Walter served in WW1 givinng his next of kin as Theresa Sampson, c/- Mrs Vallentine, Sandwell, via Pt Adelaide.

Theresa died in 1969 and Walter in 1964.  Both are buried at Centennial Park.

Matilda VALLENTINE age 25 married William Frank Higgs age 23 on 19 Oct 1910 at th Congregational Church, Pt Adelaide.

Mary Thomas my Great Grandmother, if the same Mary, all listed in Rondah May's post are/ were part of our extended family. Sorry I know nothing of the murder.

I am researching the Watters family and am looking for photos of descendents.
I don't expect to find one of William Watters but as Mary and William married in Adelaide there may have been one taken. If there is a photo of Mary (nee Holman) I would be able to add that to my history.

One of Mary's children married a Captain Vallentine is that your line?

I used to live in Strathalbyn South Australia but now live near Mole Creek in Tasmania.
