I did wonder if it might have been the collapse of the Zoology Building at Aberdeen University, as workmen were killed then, but it happened in 1966.  The library should be able to help with newspaper articles.

There is no death of a Norman Petrie in the SP index for 1966. There is one in 1977, and one in 1979.

You need to get the information from the death certificate.

For the '77 death, the age is recorded as 48.

hi thanks to all that has helped with this topic but i have now compleated it thanks to the libary it was a trench that colapsed in dec 1977
