It looks like "tip polisher"?

Does anyone know what this occupation is?
It looks like tip or sip polisher..........

Taken from 1871 census. Same occupation in 1881.
Place - St Philip & Jacob area of Bristol
Subsequently became a coal dealer
BEDFORDSHIRE/HERTFORDSHIRE: Coles, Marsom, Hurst
BERKSHIRE/WILTSHIRE: Huntley, Williams,  Maslin, Pinnell, Watson, Gulliver, Penny
DERBYSHIRE: Brinsley
DEVON: Bidgood, Northam, Gillard, Westlake
GLOUCESTER: Abrahams, Pritchard, Washburn
IRELAND: Dean, Bateman
MIDDLESEX: Howe, Leah, Truelove
NEW ZEALAND: Bishop, Frankham, Oliver, Gribble
NORFOLK: Liffen, Hacon
SOMERSET: Bishop, Bridges, Palmer, Newport, Barrow, Hill, Wise, Boyte

Enlarged it on line and looks like Zip Polisher on there but still no wiser

I know there is a clear down stroke showing, but could it possibly be Tin Polisher?

In the 1881 it is overwritten 'Boot and Shoe'

Further down the same page on the 1881 are two 'tip makers' also overwritten 'Boot'

Please scan at 300dpi minimum to help save the restorers eyesight.

I have just googled "tip polisher" and found a few instances cross referenced to censuses including one "shoe tip polisher"!

There are 23 Shoe Tip Polishers in the 1881 Census.
