What 1878 list?

I know that a problem with the tithe applotment is that a great big, multi-generation family could live on a piece of land and only the "head of household" would be listed.

...I specifically know that a Patrick O'Holloran owned land there in 1878, and that in 1831 Tithe Applotment, he was in Gardenfield townland, Tuam parish, Co Galway.

You said that you know Patrick was 'there' in 1831 and 1878- how do you know this?

1831 Tithe applotment.

Someone found record he owned property in 1878.

Just because there is possibly a Patrick O'Halloran (or similar surname) in 1831 and then one in 1878 doesn't mean that the two records refer to the same person.

Actually, I think you did say that in your first post  :-\

"I specifically know that a Patrick O'Holloran owned land there in 1878, and that in 1831 Tithe Applotment, he was in Gardenfield townland, Tuam parish, Co Galway."

Patrick Halloran lived there in 1831, and Patrick Halloran lived there in 1878.    Nothing says these were teh same person.   However I really think they were related.  ESPECIALLY since Patrick is known to have had a son or brother named Michael who had a son named Patrick.

No.  Don't tell me.  You don't think so.

You need to get all the information you can prove in one post.
So let see you have a Patrick Halloran in 1831, we can see that online at AT
He has a brother or son called Michael and also a brother called Edmund ??(we can see an Edmund on GV)
and this Michael has a son called Patrick.
Can you direct us to the 1878 information,
and do you have certs or anything for the later Patrick or for Michael.

Sorry, that 1878 information came from someone else who's e-mail doesn't work.

It's on the Tuam Famlies web site, under interests.

Is it the site that says Patrick Holloran was born 1874, married Margaret O'Shaughnessy and moved to England, he died 1956 Liverpool.

I can't see anything about 1878
where did you find Michael and how do you know Edmund is a brother of Patrick?
