on my grandfathers discharge papers is it normal that they dont mention which battalion he served with? just says ROYAL DUBLIN FUSILIERS , been tryn for couple years to find which battalion he served with ,,,,,

Do you have his Medal Card information? - if so then the codes next to the entries for each medal relate to the actual rolls held at The National Archives at Kew [not available online] which should tell you the battalion.
