was thinking they all looked the same to me - how clever that you are able to post so many of the same photo - renaming each time no doubt!!

Have jut had a look and the thatched bit had gone by the time my Grandma moved in.

It was a blacksmiths in 1881 - with a female Master Blacksmith (Eleanor Evans) RG11; Piece: 5436; Folio: 37; Page: 14

Wow a female Master Blacksmith.  They built them strong in those days.

Do you think she took over from a husband and had boys working for her?

She is with her husband on the 1871 census so it looks as if she remained in the smithy after his death.

I did suspect that scenario but wondered if you had to complete an apprenticesip to be a Master........or does it mean employer then?
