John Annis

John Annis was married 22/7/1822 in St.Marys, Ashby, near Bungay to Esther Lacey. Desperate to find if he was born there and who his parents were. His birth was 1800/1801 and he could of been down as Annison.

Hi
Where did his year of birth come from? Have you got him in any censuses?

If not, and you want help looking, then do tell us of any known children of the couple.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi Annis

Have you considered this entry on the familysearch.org website

John ANNIS born 22 Sep 1796 Bpt 26 Sep 1796 mother Mary ANNIS.  Geldeston, Norfolk.
You can see the digital image of the PRs  https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VNJ9-ZCV

Geldeston is very close to Ashby & remember age quoted on 1841CR can be rounded down by up to 4 years if they knew their actual age!

As Liz says childrens names always useful as a clue.

Good luck

K

Thank you to both of you. I hadn't considered Geldston before. I have no idea whether John had any siblings only that he and Esther had 2 children, James born 1826 and Samuel, my ancester born 1823.

Hi,

I'm just making sure I don't lose track of this thread because although my Annis line was from Essex, I have a suspicion they came, originally, from Suffolk.

I have Lucy Annis, born c1796 in Essex, daughter of John Annis and Mary Harmony. I don't know much about this line but am always interested to follow other people's lines, just in case a link comes to light.

Jen :)
