Italian/french genealogy
« on: Wednesday 28 November 12 21:01 GMT (UK) »
I have been trying to find out more about our children's great geat grandparents who met in France, just outside Paris but came from different parts of Italy.

Elio came from the foothills of the dolomites
Margarita came from Lake Maggiore

Might be worth trying a post or two on www.genealogie.com - but you'd be best advised to post in French. The site is divided by département, so it would also help to know where the various events took place.

This is where some wonderful sharing experts hang out. Worth joining up and asking for help. They'll even do translations for you.

The names I would be researching are Sibilia and Barberi.

I think the Sibilia family ran a hotel in La Ferte Alais, which is near Orly.

La Ferté-Alais is in the Essonne département, number 91, which might help your search.

Essonne archives are online including some etat civil (bmds).

If you know the dates you're looking for you might find them there. French records are very detailed and for example if you find a marriage in La Ferté-Alais it may give you an exact birth location in Italy.
