Daniel Greene b c1888 Kilcolman, Limerick d 4 Aug 1916
Regiment: Northumberland Fusiliers
Battalion: 10th Battalion
Awarded the MM, and the DCM for an action on 5th April 1916

For conspicuous gallantry in going out with another private voluntarily to lay a torpedo in the enemy’s line. When the torpedo failed to explode he went out again with the same private and brought it back. He had previously shown marked bravery.

He appears on a memorial I am researching

I think his parents are James and Kate on the 1901

and he may be in the Royal Garrison Artillery No9 Mountain Battery, 1911.

Can anyone shed more light on his parents and Siblings

Thanks Claire

I did already have that and should have put it on my first post.

I was hoping for a maiden name for Catherine

Hi all,

I'm the grandnephew of the Daniel Greene -  I have all his medals from WW1 - He was my grandfather's brother (Maurice Greene)- My grandfather emigrated to New York City in 1908.   Do I have any relatives out there??
I can trace his parents (My Great Grandparents-  James and Catherine (Hayes) Greene) and James's  father - James Greene (My great great grandfather - born in 1804) - their address is Grouse Lodge, Kilcolman, Argagh, Limerick.

Regards,

Andrew Greene
