From Genuki
 Any help ?
The ancient parish of Ruabon comprised the townships of Belan, Bodylltyn, Cristionydd Cynrig ( or Y Dref Fawr), Coed Cristionydd, Cristionydd Fechan ( or Y Dref Fechan, or Dynhinlle Uchaf), Dinhinlle Isaf, Hafod ( or Hafod y Gallor), Moreton Anglicorum ( or Moreton Above), Moreton Wallichorum ( or Moreton Below) (where Above and Below refer to Offa's Dyke), Rhuddallt, and Tref Robert Llwyd.
On 28 October 1879, Moreton Above and the remainder of Cristionydd Cynrig went to the new parish of Penycae.

Hi

Not really useful for me - I know and have read these links many times  - but a good idea to put the link up for others.

I think it's really which township Plas Bennion is/was in that's the real question.  A plan of the townships within the parish would be a great help - didn't  Vic, Jennifer or Dafydd do one at some stage?  There  might be one at the Research Centre.

I'll see what they have tomorrow at the Centre.I may have to go sometime I fear to the A N Palmer Museum at Wrexham where they may have a copy of his "History of Ruabon".

You can compare with a modern map  - show modern OS box.

Get Penycae on a map then zoom into the area between there and the Llangollen Road.

Cough, cough - it's me again :)

When I was Googling about MA, I found that one site suggested that it might be centred on the 'Inn' in Johnstown - it seems a wee bit away from Plas Bennion.

I think I'll  wait for WR to locate any local info inat the AN Palmer in  Wrexham :)
