Bellarena townland is in Magilligan Parish and Tircorran in Aghanloo parish- both in Newtown Limavady Poor Law Union.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Bellarena is an electoral district which covers some of the townlands in the parish of Aghanloo as well as the parish of Tamlaghtard (Magilligan)

HI Gortinanima.
I don't suppose you know if Jervais Irwin or the widow Irwin had any children in 1931 John would have been 31yrs.  Dirtagh where  and what is it townland or other?  I think that the family belonged to Drumachose presbyterian church,Daniel married Jane XXXX there in 19XX, but that could have been the brides church.
All suggestions welcome regards. Belfast beau. :)

Dirtagh is a townland about a mile SE of Tircorran but seperated from it by a shoulder of the Binevenagh Mountain. I also think that Drumachose would have been the bride's church as there is a nearer Presbyterian church to Dirtagh at Derramore.

hi there Belfast Beau and co,

Though I have done a lot of social history research over the years, I am new to researching my own family history so still have a lot to uncover.

But I believe that my great grandfather is one of the Irwin's you refer to later in the posts as one of the sons of John Irwin.

William Irwin married Elizabeth Irwin (yes this is her maiden name) in Granagh, Aughanloo (this is the spelling on their sons birth certificate of 5th March 1884 but obviously an error and should be Aghanloo). It states that William is a farm labourer. I dont have any more information after this and so am hoping that yourself or someone could assist filling in any more of the gaps?

Many thanks! - John

ack! sorry - reading your post carefully this time I see that your John and Jane died before Williams birth in 1884... unless your William is the father of my William (makes him my 2G grandfather) and ... which would make John my (3G) grandfather....

Gallacher:- Lynch

Hi John
I'm not so sure I can help, my William Irwin of Tircorran Aghanloo was married on 15th march 1876 to Hannah Reid of Drumbane. William was 26 years old and Hannah was 30, Hannah was a domestic servant and William a labourer. William's parents John Irwin and Jane MC. Allister and Hannah's father was William Reid a labourer.  I'm not positive but I seem to remember having the same sort of problem over Aghanloo and Aughanloo, Aghanloo is just outside  limavady, and there is a townland in Tyrone called Aghaloo. As I said I'm not sure if this helps or not but if you have anymore questions please feel free to ask. Good luck with your search. Belfast beau :)
