As reported by the Kentish Express 11th September 1936 and the London papers and a small piece in The Winnipeg (Manitoba) Free press a cricket match took place on the Wittersham Farms Cricket ground between 2 professionals. These being W Ashdown of Kent CC and A Wensley of Sussex CC and Auckland (Best figures 9 wickets for 36 runs against Otago 1920's) and the Isle of Oxney eleven. Ashdown and Wensley scored 186 before Wensley was out. These two players then dismissed the Isle of Oxney eleven for 153 winning by 33 runs.

Thanks for posting these. A lot of my ancestors came from the Wittersham/Stone area, so it's possible some of them were in the crowd
