CLOSED - NBI lookup plea
« on: Thursday 13 December 12 16:01 GMT (UK) »
Please would some kind person with access to the National Burial Index check if there is a burial place listed for John Henry JAMES (or CORDNER-JAMES) who died on 20 April 1946 in Aldeburgh, Suffolk aged approximately 78.

(Family rumour suggests he might have been buried in Barham, Kent, but as he had no known connection to the area I am not convinced.)

Many thanks
Philip

It looks as though the NBI doesn't cover Aldeburgh in 1946  :-\

You are my heroes of the day!  You have come up with the answer!

Considering that John walked out on his family in Middlesex to set up home with his mistress in Suffolk it seems odd that he was buried in Middlesex - but maybe he had purchased the grave plot previously.

John is one of the more colourful characters in my tree and now you have given me a place I can visit to pay my respects.

Two million thanks to you (one million each to Rosie99 and Nanny Jan!)

Many thanks for the extra research, Rosie.

I have a copy of the will and it gives a fascinating insight into the family dynamics!

A warm welcome to Rootschat.

If you post another few messages you will be able to send and receive personal messages (just add a couple of "hallo again" posts on this thread).  Click on my name above my picture, then under "Actions" on the left of the next screen, click "Send personal message".  I have a mass of information on John Henry which I am happy to share.  He was my great-grandfather.  Are you also a relative?

Philip
