Oxford College Chapel Registers - Harris

Searching for two marriages in Oxford:

Samuel Harris and Mary ? in 1810
William Harris and Elizabeth ? in 1780, 1781 or 1782

Both marriages, I believe, took place in Oxford possibly in Magdelene, Brasenose or Queen's College

Any help in tracing these will be much appreciated

Hi,

I've searched the OMI and there is no mention of a Samuel Harris marrying a Mary in 1810 anywhere in Oxford. I'm not sure if the college churches are included in this index   - St Mary Mag is though.

There are two marriages of a William Harris to an Elizabeth in the three years you mention...

William Harris & Elizabeth Shelswell married in Shenington,  20 April 1780
William Harris & Elisabeth Wood married in Rotherfield Grey, 15 December 1781

I also searched Harriss and Haris but there were no matches with the years you gave.

Many thanks, Paula - I will look into the two leads you have given me more closely.

Unless you have looked already and drawn a blnk - could you check the Samuel Harris and Mary 1810 marriage for the rest of Oxon, not just the city? Mary gives her birthplace as Horsepath in the census and Samuel certainly came from Horsepath but no such marriage in the Horsepath registers.

There is definitely no marriage between a Samuel Harris and a Mary anywhere near the year you specify in Oxfordshire. The closest in date take place in 1792 or 1834.

But like i said previously, i'm not sure if this index includes any marriages that took places in any Oxford University College Chapels.
