Martha FITCHETT - Nantwich

Hi, everyone and thank you for reading this.

I am trying to find out what happened to Martha (b Tipton Staffordshire) after 1881 when she was living with her married sister Priscilla PEARSON in Nantwich.

I believe there were 3 daughters to John and Frances (Annie) FITCHETT. Priscilla, (my 2 x great grandmother), Frances (Fanny) and Martha.

I know a lot about Priscilla and Fanny died in 1877, but I cannot find Martha after 1881. Did she marry, emigrate, die?

I have found a death for a Martha BETTERLEY born 1865 died 1931 that could fit and there is a Martha Fitchett marrying in 1888 to either an Albert BETTERLEY or a Frederick GARFORD, but I can't find her on the 1891 census with either of these surnames.

If anyone with different records, better eyes or better searching skills than I can find her I would be very greatful.

Hi I see in 1881, that Martha was a Boot Fitters Apprentice, so this 1891 looks very much like her, even though her pob/occupation has altered!

Residing at 65, Beam Street, Nantwich

In 1901 they are BETTELEY with children Percy 10 William J 4 and Martha 5months all born Nantwich, and at same address.

Thank you so much. I was right about the marriage yippy! Also glad she stayed in Nantwich - I can imagine her popping in and having tea with my 2 x great grandmother.

John Fitchett and Annie Goodhead in 1870 Burton on Trent register office.
Is this Martha's father?
