In 1871, John Fitchett is with his wife Annie and daughters Fanny 9 and Martha 6 in Nantwich.

I have the daughters mother as being a Frances Charrington and no mention of Annie. But of course Frances could have died and he could have remarried in 1870.

Sorry I went back through records. Frances Fitchett died in 1873.

Thank you for finding that marriage.

Cheers, Ted

I have that thanks Heather,

He lived down the road from Priscilla. I am not sure why he didn't live with Priscilla she had a pretty big house.

She lived here in the Tudor house http://www.francisfrith.com/nantwich/photos/welsh-row-1898_42181/

Hello from Australia,

I haven't been here for a while as other interests took over my research time. and I know this is an old thread so I am not hoping that many will see this - but I am UK for Christmas.

I haven't forgotten Pricilla and Martha Fitchett and I am going to Nantwich on the 2nd of January. to see in real life all the places they lived and worked.

I think Pigeons Inn is now the local boxing rink (if anyone knows for sure can they confirm or deny please) but the house is still there and the canal of course. I will be visiting the cemetery and the church and hopefully I will discover more about my most unusual branch of my family.

Thanks to everyone who helped in the past, if anyone is close and wants to meet me PM me for my phone number.

Love from Ted

Interesting! I think Albert Betteley is the younger brother of my ancestor, Mary. Their father was William and he was quite young when he died - about mid to late twenties. His wife was Louisa Buttler. After William died she had two illegitimate children one was Elizabeth Ann and the other I can’t remember without looking over my papers.

I remember my relative telling that Percey Betteley died in a public house in Nantwich. He fell off a stool so must have had a heart attack

Wow! Jay thank you for getting in touch.

I am in Nantwich now! Staying at The Crown.

I have a few pubs to visit as my 3rd x great grandfather seems to have worked in a few.

I will see what I can find about Percey if I find anything I will let you know.

Cheers, Ted

Just looked at my family tree and it seems that Martha Fitchett was indeed married to my great, great grandmother’s brother Albert Betteley. He was baptised at Nantwich 2 June 1866. His father William died the following year aged 24

Wow that is so sad - I have added them to my list when I visit the church tomorrow

In some way we are related - at least on the same tree
