oh boy - what an offer - as back as far as I can go please!!!

The spelling we mainly have is with an 'a' but on later census's its an 'e' but grannies age she has 'a' back again so we had assumed it was 'a' and a census misspelling.

will go through the info given above after new yr as still full of visitors this end but it is very muh appreciated and sorry for delay in thanking everyone due to Christmas guests.

Hope everyone had a good one

Hi Derek, Trish & Carol,

Thank you for the information given - it has been very helpful and is indeed the family we are tracing.

Derek - your offer is very much appreciated can you go back further on the De(a)rbyshire side in regard to John Derbyshire whose info we have from 1841 census as follows....

1841
Add: Loe(?)side Occ: Gardener (possibly at Darley Hall)
John Derbyshire
Age:    25
Estimated Birth Year:    abt 1816
Gender:    Male
Where born:    Derbyshire, England

John Derbyshire    25
Elizabeth Derbyshire    25
Thomas Derbyshire    5

His parents names would be great and if you can go back any further again it would be appreciated - or even siblings if any are listed.

Thanks a lot
Amanda & Sue

Hi again,
To make sure you are following the correct Derbyshire line back you need to get Johns second M/C to Hannah 1850.
As his 1st Wife Elizabeth was Buried 19 Jan 1850 and new Wife Hannah appears with John on the 1851 Census, this is the likely Marriage;
F/S.Org 06 June 1850 to Hannah BROWN, Manchester, Lancashire

Ref from FreeBMD to purchase Cert;
John Derbyshire, June 1850, Manchester, 20 631

Without this you cannot confirm Johns Fathers name/occp which I am pretty sure you will find is Francis.

Mary Ann Roose is easy to find in 1851/1861 as a Servant in Broughton, Lancashire
You need her M/C to Thomas to confirm her Fathers name/occp.

Hi Trish,

Thanks for all the information given it is much appreciated - I will ask Sue (who's branch the Derbyshire line is) to get the marriage cert and see where that takes us!

Exciting times ahead I hope.
