McClurgs of Killyleagh; Irwin, Erwin, Harper
« on: Thursday 02 June 05 08:10 BST (UK) »
My Scots Presbyterian McClurg family emigrated from Killyleagh, Down starting in 1840 with son William McClurg b. 1813; followed in 1841 by his brother James b.1826; and then in 1843, their parents James, b. 1779 and Mary b.1783 and possible a daughter Jemima around 18 years old.

Son William married his first wife from Killyleagh, Mary (Irwin/Erwin) 1821-1858 and then returned to Down in 1861 from New York to marry his second wife Martha, Harper b. 1828, Feb 02, in Killyleagh.

I am looking for their/my kin in Killyleagh then and/or now.

Can anyone help?

My grandfather was Alexander McClurg of 37 Shore Street, Killyleagh. He died in 1959 and my grandmother Edith Faulkner McClurg, mother of 4, died in 1979. Their children were Jane Faulkner (my mother), Beth (died in infancy), Myra and Clifford Alexander. Uncle Cliff is the only survivor and he now lives in Brisbane, Australia with his wife Eileen with whom he has 4 sons.

Hope all this information is of some use to you. Email me if you want any further info?
Regards, Astrid Kennedy

If you go to:

__http://www.bt.com/

and look at Directory Enquiries, you'll find there are still a few McClurgs in Killyleagh.
