« on: Friday 28 December 12 15:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Could someone look up 1851 and 1861 census for Robert Griffiths, born 1846 Lambeth and Sarah Kite born 1842, Middlesex, they are my great grandparents who married in 1868. Thanks Tony.

those POBs were from the 1881 census?

1871, when in Regents Park area with oldest son, a bit different.

Do you have the 1868 Marriage Cert and Father's names?

[cant see the family in 1891 so far - emigration?]

Taking a guess at the 1871 to see if it gives some more help with looking further back, perhaps you can confirm if this is the correct entry.

39 Augustus Street, Regent, St Pancras, London
Robert Griffiths Head M 25 Waiter Middlesex London
Sarah Wife M 28 " "
Robert W 1 " "

As they may still be living with parents in the earlier censuses, perhaps you could give the details from the marriage certificate, including occupations, father's names and witnesses as well as addresses.

Why? oh heck, I sometime wonder why we bother.

There's probably no chance of information from the marriage certificate prior to the enquiry being made, so any research further back is simply guessing.

Sorry about the duplicate entry, a senior moment on my behalf. I can confirm MaryA's post is the correct entry.

The 1861 entry is indexed as Griffer and shows Elizabeth as Betsy.  Original image surname supports transcription.  Birthplaces are now shown as Paddington but the family is still in Marylebone
