Jennings was born in Halswell, Christchurch and married Ethel Harriett Fine, they had a family of 15 children and lived in Christchurch.

Yes we are second cousins, I have your mothers name as Margaret Frances Coates b 1921,( the 12th of Jennings & Ethel's 15 children ), & your father as John Smith but no further details. My records show that Jennings was born 3 Dec 1880 & died in 1951 - no date or burial details. Your grandmother, Ethel Harriett was born at Ladbrooks, Christchurch in 1884 & died in 1974, she is buried in the Ruru Lawn cemetery in Christchurch. My partner have visited Raffrey in Northern Ireland, have seen the church at Raffrey where William & Margaret were married, and also been to Downpatrick where William Coates & Margaret Moffat were married in a Registry Office in 1848.

Cheers Nikka

All my grandparents & aunts & uncles have now all passed away, most of the Coates family relatives have lived into their 80's with one aunt living until she was 97. I have two living sisters, my brother died @ one day old and his twin sister was killed in an accident while walking to catch the bus to school one morning in 1960.
