Struggling to find William Moore
« on: Saturday 29 December 12 12:17 GMT (UK) »
I'm stuck with this one and before I order the marriage certificate I thought I would try here. William Moore was born around 1889 and died in 1961 in Leeds. His son thinks he may have been born in Cornwall and that he had a brother called Joe. He thinks he left home to join the army when he was 13 (1902) and that he became a member of the Household Cavalry. I know he married in Melton Mowbray in 1922 and again in 1948 in Leeds.
Thanks

Hi
Have you tried looking on census records?   It might be needle in haystack time or you might strike lucky.  We can't do 1911 look ups but there are various tips for searching here

Some army records are online too.

Thanks - I have tried and there is one possibility in 1901 - a family from Cronwall living in Bristol - the father was Joseph and there was a brother Joseph and they were both horsemen (which may back up the Household Cavalry connection).
