I have seen copies of the birth certificates that a Griggs relation had who contacted me through a family history site. Definitely named as father.

Emily died in 1851 so could possibly be legitimate chold of William.
Then there arecm 3 half siblings born to Emma Wratten before William went to Canada. Then 2 other half siblings born to Mary Muttart several years after William's death.

Thank you GCE,

There still seems to be some sorting out about for which children Mary Ann Muttart was really the mother. UK GRO says 3 but it would not cover Louisa unless she was also born in the UK (she wasn't)

My aunt married Walter Benham, whose mother was Emily Adelina Griggs, whose father was Wm Henry (m Martha Wake), whose father was William (m Wratten and Muttart) ... then I have his father was Wm (m Jane Auborn) - all settled in Bedfordshire

I have more detail I am trying to validate and share. Do you have Wm Henry's military record? Do you have the Muttart marriage record?

Ill collate my notes later if that is ok. Looks like we are reasonably close cousins genealogy speaking!

Yes Dundee - Only Emily born after William died

My email is antony.thurston@gmail.com

Thank you both for replying

Tony
