Don't know if you might be able to answer another question for me.
I was looking at Burn Hall and trying to work out where it is Parish wise. I think it may come under Brancepeth - any ideas??
Do you know anyone that may be able to check the parish baptisms for Francis/Matilda?
I live in Bristol and I'm a student so travelling up isn't an option time or money wise!

Actually, that's no use, all of Brancepeth baptisms from the mid 1500s are on IGI........

Durham's not an option for me either I'm afraid. I'm in Essex - and with a daughter at primary school and one in nursery any long-distance is going to be out for a while.
You could try posting a specific look up on the look-ups board.

Thought I'd look at Winston as that's where the other names that are connected but not connected (I know you know what I mean!). But they're all indexed too.
Francis and Matilda are going to stay mysteries I think.........

Sometimes the English Naming Patern, a convention for naming your children, which was slavishly followed in some communities up to circa C19th, can provide good clues about names of grandparents, parents and siblings within a family.
