St. Winefride's Well; Holywell History
« on: Thursday 02 June 05 16:08 BST (UK) »
For purposes of an article that I'm researching, I am interested in any information on the 1917 incident when the watersource of St. Winefride's Well and the town of Holywell was accidentally diverted by mining activity in the area, causing, as one source puts it mildly, "much consternation" in the community. I am interested in written accounts, letters, or oral history from this nearly catastrophic event!

In the County Herald of 12th January 1917 Page 2 and in the next three issues you will find a long account of the whole episode.
I discovered it quite by chance whilst searching for something else and made a note of it.
Seems it was a good idea.

Regards
Peter
