2 Little Boys, could they be John & Alfred?

Hi, I was given this scanned image by a relative at Xmas, of 2 little boys who might possibly be Great Uncles of mine.

My Gt Uncles were John - born 1867 and his brother Alfred - born 1868.

There was nothing written on the original photo which was in Sepia colour.

I have no way of knowing if this photo is of them when they were young but I thought if someone out there could date the photo for me , it would be a great help.

Mmmm....not much to go on is there.However sailor suits were becoming popular for boys in the 1880's & reached the height of fashion 1890's - WW1,I can't say I've ever seen boys dressed this way in the 1870's.Also photos can be dated by what's at the back & this backdrop isn't 1870's,this is more Edwardian.
It would be interesting to see the back & maybe we can determine if this is a CdeV or postcard.

I will try & find out if the original was in a Postcard or just an old photo.

Hi Barbara...This is a lovely little image..as it is a locket photo and very small...if you could ask your relative to scan it at 600dpi it could be turned into a printable photo on here.
