There seem to be a few possibilities:

1) That the Thomas in Liverpool is the son of an Edward Chandler, and a brother of Philip, Anastatia and Edward Chandler in Wexford, or

2) That he is the Thomas, son of Philip "Chanlon" (or Chanlor), and Mary Cogley, baptized Wexford 16th May 1823.

Thank you for this Wexflyer. These are 2 definite possibilities.

Re: Thomas Chandler b. 1831 d. 1895
Born wexford, Ireland.
His first child with Mary Murray was Edward b. 1854.
This seems to suggest that Thomas' father was Edward.

Precisely!
I also think that this is the most likely scenario.

The area around Drinagh is in the parish of Piercetown, and the parish registers are extant. That none of the relevant Chandler/Challoner births are showing up around 1830 or so is almost certainly due to the fact that the register entries are unreadable for many years, due to faint/faded ink. You can see this by looking at the register microfilm copies on the NLI website.

So sorry I’ve not responded to your information earlier, moved house etc….felt like I’d hit the Gen brick wall with Irish records.
Looks Like we are related Wexflyer.
My research journey started with a really sad story from my late Grandmother about her older brother Edward Chandler being stabbed and killed on Scotland Road, her heartbreak lasted all her life.
I have put information online newspaper stories of the time,I have found graves of him and other family members in ford cemetery,In Merseyside.
Please let’s contact each other.

The Thomas Chandler on my record is 30 years old in 1861 (b. 1831-1898). The Mary Chandler he is married to was formerly 'Murray'. All other details are consistent - shoemaker, Paul Street.... Etc

This is all consistent with my records. After Thomas came Louisa b.1868 & Catherine 1869-1952.  My Great Grandfather was Thomas Chandler 1866-1950. His son William was my grandfather.
