Llanycrwys 1814census
« on: Saturday 05 January 13 02:48 GMT (UK) »
On H0107 piece1381 book18 district 10a folio5 page27 I found Thos Jones born 1776. I can make out the names of the homes e.g. Rhosybedw, Pantyffynnon, Cwmhowel but when I look at a street map of the area the places are not close. Does anyone know why these locations are on the same census page. Is the Cwnhowel on the map the same place registered for Thos and Mary? Any chance of finding their marriage

the places mentioned will be the actual abode in the 1st.
(Enumeration District)
the others will be the  ecclasticalistic  and hundred or poor union.....

not seeing which census off the top   the mere mention of 3 places does confuse folks sometimes.....

its all good....

as for the marriage   try family search . org     and dont try and define a place other than Wales  to start with....

use the 18 years plus rule  to create a time scope of marriage.... so for example in your case   1776 + 18  = 1794>    so a window of 1790 to 1851  just in case its a 2nd marriage for your soul.....   then its leg work to see who was who until u hit the right combo...

Hello  :)

Have you seen the Genuki information about this Parish?

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CMN/Llan-y-Crwys/

The Religious census of 1851: "Llanycrwys parish consisting of the hamlets of Fforest and Mynachty;   Area 3379 acres; Population 244 males, 251 females, total 495"

Kind Regards
Morgan

Llanycrwys close to where I live.  Rhosybedw was a local Mansion built by a Colonel.  (perhaps there was another older property there before the Colonel moved down here for health reasons)The location
is very rural.  Currently on the same road are a  farmhouse and a modern bungalow both part of the Rhosybedw estate.  No other properties in sight. Sandra

Thanks everyone.
I just found it odd that 3 of the homes on the same 1841 census page seemed so far apart on the map.
Rhosybedw is near Lanycrwys while Pantyffynnon is near Llanddarog and Cwmhowel is near Llansawel.

But maybe I should not use the streetmap.co.uk site to look for these abodes.

;D No wonder I found the other two names unfamiliar!

Happy to visit local graveyard for you in Llanycrws.

Thank you for offering to search cemeteries but locating the correct Thomas Jones (wife Mary) sometime between 1841 and 1851 might be a bit difficult. I have no idea where he would be buried.

His son (maybe) Rees Jones (1813-1878) (my great great grandfather) lived at Camnant Farm and died 11th December 1878 also near Llanycrwys so he might more likely be found.
His wife was Anne (1814-1878).
