1851 &/or 1861 Look Up please Angus, Scotland
« on: Thursday 02 June 05 23:59 BST (UK) »
Hopeful of finding some of the Youngson family at:

Union Street, St Andrew, Dundee City Angus

as two of them were there at 1871 Census.

If anyone can check, please, it would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Have you tried freecen?  http://freecen.rootsweb.com/

There are 15 entries for Youngson in the 1841 census for Angus, although none are on Union St.

Without any further details I cannpt tell if they are your family or not.

Hi Sue

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I did try the FreeCen search and am fairly sure none of the results are for the particular family I am hopeful of tying down to Union Street (I know FreeCen's Angus pages are not yet 100% complete and assumed they may be on the 'yet to come' pages - hence why hopeful someone with discs for 1851/61 may be able to help).

Possible names at Union Street include William (on 1851 only as died before 1861), Elizabeth/Betsy, David, John.

Still hopeful of an 1851 Census look-up,  but fantastic news meantime, FreeCen must have had some more stuff transcribed recently and more of the 'yet to come' have now arrived!!!

Although it wasn't there previously,  I have just found my lot (parents William and Elis(z)abeth with children Isobel and David - John not yet born) at 1841 in Dundee at an address of Long Wynd  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D (yes it is late and I should be in bed but I am so happy I had to share the find)!  Guess this may also have been their home in 1851 as opposed to the address I gave in first post (or an other possibility for the address at 1851 would be Infirmary Lane, King's Road, Dundee).

This has really helped me as David's birth is not recorded on Scotlandspeople and placing him with his parents was important for me ( I have the links pre and post his birth). Was starting to think they found him behind a bush.

So, for others out there who have tried Free Cen before with no results, it may be worth checking again as updates may just have added the link you have been waiting for.
