Hi Roy,

My grandmother was a Burridge of this family. Edward's father, John, was the brother of my gggg grandfather, William. His son, Alexander, a shoemaker, moved to Compton Abbas.  I have whatever I have found so far on rootsweb (family trees, database mlje).

Many thanks for your kind response.

As you may have noticed from my previous postings, I am relatively new to
genealogy.

In fact relatively new to computers.   In my 80th year it amazes me why it
took me so long to get into both ancestor research and learn a little about
computers.      My great grandchildren get a kick out of my efforts.

I do have Alexander listed in my family tree.   He is in the 1841 census, living
in Shaftesbury, Fontmell, Compton Abbass.  Occupation:  Shoemaker.

It would seem many of the Burridge lineage were shoemakers.  Even my great
grandmother was listed as a "shoe bender".   Haven't yet had time to figure
out exactly what a shoe bender is!

You mentioned you obtained much of your data from Rootsweb family trees. I
am klutzy enough that I haven't figured out how to access that data.  Perhaps
you could advise a simple way to do this.

A very kind lady, Monica Kanellis, did give me access to her research, which has
been extremely helpful.

Nice to have heard from you.

Kind regards,
