William Beckwith in Bungay
« on: Tuesday 08 January 13 19:32 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I wondered if SKS with access to the Bungay PRs would look up the birth if a William Beckwith approx 1819 and if there is a marriage to a Jesstina prior to 1851.

Thank you

Margaret

There are no Beckwith burials recorded in Bungay on the Suffolk Burial Index & Beckwith does not appear to be a very common name in Suffolk.  The main concentration of that name seems to be in Bentley, Suffolk with burials going back to the 1600s.

Familysearch.org records a William BECKWITH bpt 30 May 1819 born Bentley.  Parent Lucy Beckwith.

Lucy Beckwith was buried in Bentley 29 Sep 1826 (age 26)
She may have also had a son Thomas bpt 3 Feb 1822 (Suffolk BTS familysearch.org)

Do either of these names crop up as christian names for his children?  Or the names Deborah or John?

Thank you both

I did see the marriage in Kent to Jesstina Peak but had typed out the message and forgot to remove that bit  :-[   Post Christmas blues is my only excuse :o

I noticed the Bentley Suffolf 1819 birth on Family Search and did wonder if that might be him.  None of the names you mentioned crop up later.  Its a long shot and these 2 may not even belong to the family I'm looking for ~ its the surname I'm interested in and anyone of that name born in Kent, specially the Ramsgate or possibly Dover area between 1800 and 1830. So was just looking at this couple as possible family connections.

Think this will be a brick wall that stays put for some time  >:(

Thanks again for your help

Margaret
