Hi Ruskie,

Quote
It looks like there is no way around the fact that when selecting a post while on the HOME page, you are automatically taken to near the end of the thread?

That's right :(
The links on the HOME page are always "absolute" links to a particular message.
If you hover the cursor over the topic title and look at the bottom of the browser page you will see the link:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=630877.msg4788438/topicseen.html#neu

If you hover the cursor over "new", you will also see a link with a message number.

Test: if a topic comes up twice on the HOME page, compare the message numbers in the two titles (they will be different) and then compare the message numbers in the two "new" icons (they are the same)

If you use the "Unread" or "Replies" lists, or any board lists, then the topic titles are links to the first or last message in the topic, depending on your profile setting. If you hover with the cursor over the link you will only see the topic number, but the link shown when you hover over "new" icon shows the message number of the newest unread message (same as on the HOME page.)

Ok Bob, that's fine. Thanks for the explanation. I might see how I get on with the "unread" page in the future.  :)
